Build me an Ark – 12 March 2021

“And Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him.” (Genesis 7:5)

What has God commanded you to do? Sure, there are the ten commandments and there are many other general instructions and principles that you need to follow, but what is your vocation? What unique offering do you bring to the world just because God has placed you in it.

Every one of us is unique. We have a fingerprint that is not matched by anyone else’s on earth. In other words when you touch something you leave a mark that only you can make. No one else can have the effect, leave the mark, impress that pattern on anything. You have a unique offering to make. As the hands of God, we are called to hold the things of life and have an impact on the things of life, each in our unique way. What pattern is your spiritual fingerprint? Can your mark be identified in the lives of your family and friends and the strangers that we meet? Can your unique blend of kindness and compassion and mercy and forgiveness, mixed perfectly by God into a character that serves him well, be identified in the fingerprints you leave.

Do you know your Spiritual gifts? Do you know your purpose? Don’t generalise – sure God gave us all hands that look much the same – we all have talents and spiritual gifts and jobs and duties but, are you aware of your unique offering. We are wonderfully and fearfully made ( Psalm 139:14) and as St Paul says we are to, We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If one’s gift is prophecy, let them use it in proportion to their faith;  if it is serving, let them serve; if it is teaching, let them teach;  if it is encouraging, let them encourage; if it is giving, let them give generously; if it is leading, let them lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, let them do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:6&7)

God made us with an intention, a purpose, a plan. When we come to him and offer ourselves to his service then we discover our uniqueness in Christ and make our unique God given mark upon the world.

Today – take time to reflect on your unique “fingerprint.” Are you using your gifts? Rethink yesterday’s mission statement that you wrote and offer yourself for the purpose that God made you.

Let us pray.

Lord God we thank you for our uniqueness that is designed to make us compliment the body of Christ. Show us this day the unique offering required of us in the service of your Kingdom that we may serve you and bring glory to your name.

Amen.
