Reflecting on week one – Noah’s Ark
Today take some time to mediate (you all have this skill of mulling things over in your mind – usually you use it to worry, meditation is taking a positive approach and thinking over things from different angles and committing them to God).
Ask yourself what you have learned form your meditative readings this week. What changes do you need to make in your life? think about what you agreed with and what you disagreed with in my interpretations of scripture and life in Christ.
‘The illiterate of the 21st century, will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.” (Alvin Toffler)
We need to deconstruct our preconceived ideas and make room in our minds for growth. We need to look with fresh eyes and allow God’s truth to permeate our lives. In these meditations I aim to encourage you to seek the truth, I’m not telling you what to think and what to make of the stories of scripture, I’m telling you to think and internalise and personalise your story with God. Build an Ark, the animals just got on board, but Noah built. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling (reverence for and awe of God). ( Philippians 2:12). This text also implies that we should not approach God with certainty in our own understanding but always with a desire for the Holy Spirit to teach us.
Today’s Task:
Read Genesis 6:14 -22.
What has God called you to?
Think of specific tasks, don’t just generalise, some may be for a season some may be for a long time of lifetime.
What instructions has God given you to fulfill these tasks?
How has God equipped you, are you growing in skills that you need?
Are you struggling with the task, or parts thereof? – give each struggle to God and seek forgiveness and guidance.
Are you seeing that your life in Christ (your Ark) is not just for yourself but for all creation! What can you do to make this a reality on your life.
Be assured for my prayers for you as you meditate on God’s word as scripture implores you to do.
“These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 6:6,7)
Let us pray
Open our spiritual eye oh Lord that we may see your majesty in the world and in our lives,
Open our Spiritual ears oh Lord that we may hear you in birdsong and in the rustling of the leaves,
open our hearts Lord that we may receive you in the simple things of life and fill our souls with your goodness.
Lord of all Creation, make my heart your home.
Amen.
