The collect.
Merciful Lord,
you have enlightened your Church by the teaching of Saint John: shed your bright beams of light upon us, that we may walk in the light of your truth and finally come to your eternal splendour; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

And now we give you thanks because you sent him to be the great shepherd of your flock; who after his resurrection sent forth his apostles to preach the gospel and to teach all nations; and promised to be with them always to the end of time.
A song of Love.
Christians, let us love one another: because love comes from God. The one who loves is born of God and knows him: but one who does not love, does not know God. Love does not insist on his way, it is not quick to take offense: it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love is patient and kind: love is not jealous or boastful, it is not arrogant or rude. Love bears all things and believes all things: love hopes and endures all things. Love will never come to an end: but prophecy will vanish, tongues cease and knowledge pass away. For our knowledge and our prophecy are both imperfect: but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. Now I know in part: but then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. There are three things that last forever, faith, hope and love: but the greatest of these is love.
Glory to the Father and to the son: and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning: is now and will be forever.
Amen
